Data and citation
The portal does not collect any primary data itself. It takes open data from public
institutions, processes and charts them — and states the origin of the numbers next to every
chart. This page brings it together: what we use, under which licence, how often it changes and,
above all, what the data cannot tell you.
The original source is always authoritative. If a number on the portal differs from the source,
the source is right — and we would be glad if you let us know.

Infectious diseases in Czechia (ISIN)
ÚZIS ČR
- Coverage
- 2018–2025
- Granularity
- month × region × ICD-10 diagnosis × age × sex

- annual (the January 2026 file ends in December 2025)
- Format

- volný přístup (otevřená data ÚZIS)
What the data cannot tell you. Does not include COVID-19, tuberculosis, syphilis, gonorrhoea or HIV — these have their own registers. Since July 2025 some cases arrive through a new reporting channel (EWS), so series are not directly comparable across that break.

What the data cannot tell you. Only syphilis, gonorrhoea and lymphogranuloma venereum. Notified cases also rise with testing intensity; HIV is not available as open data.

What the data cannot tell you. Around 430 cases a year nationwide — differences between regions and years are largely chance. Country of birth is neither citizenship nor place of infection.

COVID-19 in Czechia — open datasets
MZČR / ÚZIS ČR
- Coverage
- since March 2020
- Granularity
- day; by dataset age, region, vaccination status
- Updated
- daily
- Format
- CSV, API
- Licence
- otevřená data MZČR
What the data cannot tell you. Testing strategy changed over time, so case counts from different periods are not comparable. Some datasets are archival. Since mid-August 2026 only tens of PCR tests a week are reported; most positive cases come from antigen tests.

What the data cannot tell you. Data are read from PDFs; no machine-readable export exists. Detection counts grow with testing volume and are not directly comparable between seasons. Seasons 2022/23–2023/24 are no longer online at the source; we keep them in the repository.

- Format
- CSV (xMart API)

What the data cannot tell you. ILI and ARI are clinical diagnoses from a subset of practices, not laboratory-confirmed influenza. The covered population changes (abruptly in 2025/26). Not reported over the summer. The number of laboratory specimens tested is comparable only from the 2021/22 season on.

What the data cannot tell you. The same Czech reports as WHO FluID, only fresher. International comparison is hampered by differing definitions and reporting delays. The number of specimens tested for SARS-CoV-2 changes its meaning in week 34/2026 and does not continue the earlier series.

What the data cannot tell you. A forecast, not a measurement. For Czechia it is ~15% better than the simplest reference model, but its intervals are narrower than claimed (the 95% band contained 85% of outcomes) and it does not see the onset of a wave.

you may share and adapt them with attribution.

Machine-readable data
Every chart is drawn from a static JSON file that you can download. The addresses are stable;
the content is rewritten with every run of the data pipeline, and the date of the last run is
shown on each dashboard under “Updated”.
The files are processed data for charts, not raw data — aggregation, per-population
adjustment and series selection are already applied. Series labels inside the files are in
Czech. For your own analysis, go to the original source.
This catalogue is machine-readable too: sources.json gives each source’s
publisher, licence, coverage, granularity, update frequency and — above all — the limits
field, which states what the data cannot tell you. Individual dashboards additionally carry
schema.org/Dataset as JSON-LD in the page head, so search engines
and other tools can tell which dataset a page is built on without parsing its text.
DCAT-AP-CZ catalogue
Data produced by processing on the portal are also described by a catalogue following the Czech
open formal standard for data catalogue interfaces:
/dcat/katalog.jsonld. It points to four datasets — influenza season
intensity thresholds, anomaly detection signals, weekly respiratory virus detections and derived
infectious disease incidence.
Data taken over from elsewhere are not in this catalogue. Their originators (ÚZIS, SZÚ, the
Ministry of Health, the Czech Statistical Office, WHO, ECDC) publish them, and they can be found in
the Czech National Open Data Catalogue; the portal links to them in the
overview above.

What the portal does not do
- It does not accept or provide sensitive data. Everything here is public aggregated
information without personal data. The portal does not yet offer controlled access to
non-public data.
- It is not an official source. For public health decisions, the data and statements of the
responsible institutions (Ministry of Health, SZÚ, ÚZIS, regional public health authorities)
are authoritative.
